Albany, New York: University of the State of New York, 1910. Second Edition, 1910 + 1914. VERY GOOD 2-volume set. Volume 1 (Part 1. Water Birds and Game Birds) is dated 1910 and includes a summary of New York State avifauna and life zones, information on migrations, detailed descriptions of genera and species (illustrated with some black & white photos) followed by 42 beautifully rendered color plates, artwork by Louis Agassiz Fuertes, and a detailed Index. Volume 1 is NEAR FINE - pages and plates clean, unmarked and firmly bound in green cloth hardcover, gilt titled on spine. Small bumps to cover corners and a few light rub marks, cover very good. Volume 2 (Part 2. Land Birds) is dated 1914 and includes economic value of birds, bird refuges and preserves as well as status of bird laws, descriptions of genera and species (with black & white photos) as well as another 64 beautiful color plates by Fuertes, and an Index. It is GOOD+ - internally very good, pages clean and unmarked. Title page is creased and last leaf has long vertical closed tear near spine. Front hinge has cracked though cover remains attached and there edgewear to a few leaves (including a 1" closed tear to margin of one plate). The green cloth hardcover has bumping and wear to corners and spine ends, a few spots and ring marks to cloth. Binding a bit wobbly but book block and hinge are intact. SIZE: 9 x 11-1/2". 501 and 719 pages. A very heavy set, requiring additional postage for Priority or international mailing.. Second Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket. Illus. by Fuertes, Louis Agassiz. 4to.
