First edition, quarto; [x], 129pp, complete with 10 plates (including 7 sepia lithographs) and a hadnful of in-text woodcuts. In contemporary green cloth (very lightly worn) with gilt arms to centre of front board and gilt lettering direct to spine. Early ink ownership names to front free endpaper and reverse of frontispiece, binders ticket to rear pastedown, endpapers stained by turn-ins, small light marginal stain to frontispiece well clear of image, a very clean attractive copy of this uncommon history.

This is a reprinted version of the original Book by the well-known American Author, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. The First Edition and printing of this classic Book was in 1858 and copyrighted by Longfellow. Eventually, the rights to publish Longfellow's Books again was assigned to Houghton, Mifflin & Company. In 1903, they contracted with Bobbs-Merrill Company to publish this Edition. This Book is the story of the courtship of Miles Standish and his future wife, Priscilla, as the name of the Book implies. The setting is early colonial America at the time of the pilgrim settlers. There are more than 40 Illustrations included. This Book will be a great addition to your library shelf.
