London.: Routledge.. Ca. 1870.. Color wood-engraving, image size approx. 5.5 x 8 inches on sheet 7 x 11 inches. One pin hole in each corner well outside of image area, clean and bright. Single plate from W.B. Tegetmeier's "The Poultry Book". Striking image of prize poultry, depicted by Harrison Weir who "poured out a lifetime of devotion to English poultry" (Norris, Books on Poultry and Cock-Fighting). Color printing by Leighton Brothers. Leighton was a pupil of George Baxter and became the printer and publisher of the Illustrated London News between 1858 and 1885. .
