Johnson Publishing Company, 1970. First Edition, First Printing. Cardboard Wrappers. Fine. A handsome First Edition, First Printing (so stated) of Charles R. Johnson's first book. In heavy decorated black & white cardboard wrappers, the book is very clean and solid. Includes cartoons on being African-American, Johnson began his career as a graphic artist. He soon went on to write his first novel, "Faith and the Good Thing" in 1974 and his later works included "Middle Passage" that won the 1990 National Book Award and was the basis for the 2000 film by the same name about the capture of African slaves that were brought to America in the late 1770's. A nice copy by this important African-American writer.
