About This Item
London: Longman, 1968. First Edition. Hard Cover. Dust Jacket. (London: Longmans Young Books 1968). First UK Edition. Publisher's green boards with gilt lettering to the spine. Illustrated by Antony Maitland. A fine book in slightly rubbed D/W with tiny nibbling at tips of spine and with hint of fading to spine panel. The basis for the 1979 Anglo-French film directed by Ken Loach and starring Stephen Hirst, Louise Cooper and Jean Franval. N.B: book went into several impressions and with the D/W being produced on ultra-thin paper, this is about the nicest copy we have encountered. This NOT an ex-library copy (as most often found). Quite scarce. Photographs/sans available upon request.
