Handsomely illustrated by Howard Simon with a frontispiece, chapter tail-pieces, and five full-page woodcuts. Introduction by Shane Leslie. "Reminiscences of prospecting life." -- J. Frank Dobie. This is an Irish-American's firsthand account of 60 years of life in the American Southwest. There is quite a bit on settlers and pioneering in the 1870s and 1880s around Kingston, New Mexico; Apache Indians; mining; burros; gamblers; western law; etc. Bound in the original black cloth, with red lettering on the front cover and spine.
