New York: Simon and Schuster, 1954. First Edition. First Printing. Signed bookplate. Octavo (22cm.)red and gray boards stamped in black on cover ans spine; black topstain; dustjacket; 309pp.; Some rubbing along bottom board; a Near Fine copy. The dustjacket is price-clipped and shows rubbing; the spine ends and flaps have been neatly reinforced by tape on the verso. The jacket is Very Good+.

Basis for the film Blackboard Jungle, a 1955 social drama film about teachers in an interracial inner-city school, adapted for the screen and directed by Richard Brooks. It is remembered for its innovative use of rock and roll in its soundtrack, for casting grown adults as school children, and for the unusual breakout role of a black cast member, future Oscar winner and star Sidney Poitier as a rebellious, yet musically talented student.
