Description:
Bound volume, Number 32. Bound in half leather and marbled boards. Published in Edinburgh at no. 17, Princes Street, 1832. Part of a long run of bound volumes of Blackwood's Magazine (about 40 years worth, 6 months) which was stored on the same shelves, in the same position for over a century. Volumes are generally sound, square and tight, 3/4 leather with marbled boards, no mildew, mild age toning and occasional foxing. The leather on many of the volumes is somewhat peeling/flaking....mainly just a surface layer of the leather, not the entire thickness of the spine. The leather has been professionally treated and conserved. The books each measure approximately 6 by 9 inches. The bindings are tight and sound. This volume contains 1014 pages including index. Each contents page of the volume (each month) has been photographed. Please see photos. Blackwoods is considered an important contribution to an understanding and history of literature, politics, and culture of the time.
