New York: The Bobbs-Merrill Co., 1950. Copyright date is 1950, first edition, TWO VOLUMES, Grey cloth over boards with gold and silver lettering and design on the spines. Illustrated through out both volumes with drawings, maps, and black and white photos of prints. Both volumes have illustrations on the inside covers front and back. Books have very minor wear to the edges and light bumps to the head and toe of the spines. Red tint to the top page edges. Dust Jackets, show wear and chips out of the head and toe of the spines and some wear along the grooves. Dust jackets are now in protective clear covers, however they still show bright. Texts and illustrations are bright and clean, with tight bindings, a solid set of collectible books on one of America's toughest challenges of it's young existence.. 1st Edition. hardcovers. Very Good/Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Collectible.
