The earliest English-language Czech cookbook, translated from the original by the author's daughter "because we continually receive inquiries for a Bohemian cook book written in the English language, from the daughters of Bohemian immigrants, who were born and raised here and do not read Bohemian as well as their parents" (p. 3). BITTING, p. 408; BROWN & BROWN 2005; Rechcigl, "Czech American Bibliography" (2011), p. 100. Octavo (19.5cm.); pubilsher's white pictorial cloth stamped in black; 306,[18]pp.; photographic portrait frontispiece of "Marie Rosicky." Board extremities heavily rubbed with loss at spine ends, both hinges cracked, shallow chipping to front free endpaper (toned and brittle due to inferior stock); a Good copy, internally sound. Green printed errata slip tipped to p. 261.
