Illustrator: C Grant La Farge; George W Maynard; Christian Fletcher Babb; Augustus St. Gaudens; Francis Lathrop. Textured cream covers with ornate gilt lettering and decoration on front and spine are darkened and marked. Slight bow to covers. Corners are scuffed. Spine-ends are rubbed and bumped. Sound binding. Wigan Public Library plate on inside front cover. Small blind stamps in margin of vignette title-page, 2 pages of prelims, 3 plates and 1 page of poetry. No other library labels or markings. Light foxing to end-papers and on some pages and some plates elsewhere. Bright gilt to upper text-block edge. Vertical and lower text-block edges are uncut (untrimmed) and are darkened. Contains 35 sections, each with a plate showing a small Greek-style head, with differing expressions, a mono-colour plate, and a page with attributed poetry and a decorative header.
