Dod in London, 1758. A-D8. Bound for a Duke of Somerset whose title is gilt lettered on the upper cover, possibly the 9th. Full contemporary red morocco, single ruled gilt border to covers with inner gilt chain border, gilt rules to spine with tiny sunburst motif inbetween, gilt lettered black morocco label, gilt patterned edges to boards and inner dentelles (turn ins), marbled endpapers. Binding slightly darkened at edges of covers with some dark spotting, corners just slightly worn, some light shelf wear to lower edges, a few small light scratches, spine slightly darkened, slightly rubbed at head and tail and tiny dent just below head of spine, slight light foxing to title page, occasional light browning to margins, 1 or 2 small pale stains, a little light foxing to a few pages, mostly very clean. Pale foxing to title page of Metric Psalms, otherwise very clean. A very good tight copy. This is the larger of 2 editions of this book, with "Price 11s. unbound" in the border at the foot of the title page. See David N.
