Alternating 12 and 6 leaf quires: a (12 leaves) + b (6 leaves) + A(12) + B(6) + C(12) + D(6) + E(12) + F(6) + G(12) + H(6) + I(12) + K6 + L(12) + M(6) + N(12) + O(6) + P(12) + Q(6) + R(12) + S(6) + T(6) + U(12) + X(12) + Y(6) + Z(12) + Aa(6) + Bb(12) + Cc(6) + Dd(12) + Ee(6) + Ff(4) + 1 rfep. Occasional staining but very clean for period. Title page with contemporary ownership inscription of Susannah Prosser dated 1793, embossed library stamp of Episcopal Theological School Library and chipping losses to margin. Prosser family record and expected library markings on verso of title. Lacking K1, T6, U1 and F1 - F4. L12 and M1 torn. Contemporary ink notes in Psalms and ink marking in Hymns. Printed in two columns. Griffiths 1793/11. Bound with: The Whole Book of Psalms in Metre; with Hymns, Suited to the Feasts and Fasts of the Church, and Other Occasions of Public Worship. New-York: Printed by Hugh Gaine, 1793. 166 [of 171] numbered pages + 1 rfep. Lacks title page and last pages of hymns and four page index. Not in ESTC, although noted. See ESTCW4409. Ffep with ownership inscription of Stephen Hall dated 1793. Bound in full black straight grain leather with red spine label containing title and date in gilt lettering. An excellent copy of this scarce third printing of the American BCP (after 1790 and 1791) and the first edition of the American BCP to include the ordinal.
