It bears his charming book plate to the front paste-down and H. Lewis Doulton to the front endpaper. Sir Henry Doulton (25 July 1820 - 18 November 1897) was an English businessman, inventor and manufacturer of pottery, instrumental in developing the firm of Royal Doulton. The book remains very clean and tight. Upper edge gilt. Quarter leather is gilt-embossed to the spine. Some notable rubbing to the head and tail of the spine and elsewhere to the spine as well. An interesting book with a fascinating provenance. . Very Good. 1883. Third Edition.
