The Bookman: A Story of Larry McMurtry's Other Day Job by Bonner, Stayton (Larry McMurtry, Introduction) - 2006

First Deluxe Limited Edition, A Fine book in sewn, brown wraps housed in a Fine pine box (box measures approximately 12 by 8 by 3 inches); the brown paper band with title that sealed the box has been cut on one side to open it. This copy is number 121 of 200 that were printed. Signed by Bonner and McMurtry on the limitation page. The focus is on McMurty's other career as a book seller, who owns Booked Up and has owned or co-owned several other bookstores (The Bookman and then Booked Up in Washington D.C., the Blue Pig and Booked Up in Archer City, Texas, as well as a short-lived store, The Stone Pig, in Tucson, Arizona). Bonner's story is based on several interviews with McMurtry. Also included with the book are: A copy of Booked Up's (Washington D. C.) permanent want list; a bumper sticker for Booked Up in Archer City (folded once to fit in box); two blue pig stickers of McMurtry's Book Up logo; business cards for both Booked Up and Three Dog Books (also in Archer City and owned by Cody and Julie Ressell - who published this book); and a folded holder with eight B/W photos showing McMurtry at different stages of his life. This is certainly a very unique item for completest McMurtry collectors.
