About This Item
London, 1873. Very good condition. An archive of ten letterhead invoices and 7 franked envelopes from British booksellers to Mr. James H. Parker of Strand, London for books including 'Chaucer's Poems', a Bible, Miscellaneous Almanacks, 'Siege-life in Paris" by Michell and various newspapers dating 1869 through 1873. Booksellers include a woman, Olive Lasbury of Bristol, and a series of booksellers from London: Rivington & Co., Edward Stanford, Trubner & Co., James Truscott & Son, Dobbs, Kidd & Co., John Van Voorst, and W.H. Smith & Son. The invoices themselves have square one penny 'inland review' stamps on them, and the envelopes have one penny oval embossed stamps which are franked and have a bank note bar cancellation. Invoices measure approximately 7.5 x 5", and 8 x 5"; the envelopes vary from approximately 5 1/4 x 3 1/8" to 4 3/4 x 3 3/4"
