(London): W.kent & Co, 1879. First, thus. Original Cloth. Very Good.. 8vo. Two volumes. xiii; (i); 457; (vi); 444 pages. Line illustrations throughout the text. Light foxing to page edges. Original dark brown cloth lettered in gilt on the spines with pictorial device of the Abbey gatehouse at Tavistock on the upper covers. Tight clean copies, cloth nice and bright. Originally published in 1838, the notice by the publisher states, "The compression of the three volumes of the original work into the two of the present edition has been made by Mrs. Bray herself, who has curtailed only such matter as, from the lapse of time and change of circumstances, would be without value to the reader of the present day. The bibliographical, historical, antiquarian, and descriptive portions have merely undergone careful revision; and it is hoped that their interest has been enhanced by the addition of a considerable number of wood-cut illustrations"
