Moderate tanning to pages with pencil inscriptions to front endpaper and slight dog-eared pages throughout. Noticeable tanning to text block edges. Book is also shaky. Boards have light rubbing and heavy bumping to corners with small dents to front top edge. visible black round marks to the rear and fair crushing to spine ends. Moderate sunning to spine as well.

Newspaper clippings about author stuck to front free endpaper. Pages and binding are presentable with no major defects. Minor issues present such as mild cracking, inscriptions, inserts, light foxing, tanning and thumb marking. Overall a good condition item. Boards have mild shelf wear with light rubbing and corner bumping. Some light marking and sunning. Unclipped jacket has heavy edgewear with areas of loss, heavy tears, chips, and creasing. Pen inscription to rear flap. Foxing overall.

London: The Book Club, 1938. Hardcover. Fair/No Jacket. 8vo. 377 pages, indexed. Hardcover bound in red quarter cloth with tan paper-covered boards. The binding shows wear and has bumped corners. Prior owner's embossed blind stamp at the bottom corner of the front flyleaf. The gutter is cracking between the half title and the frontis. The outside edges are foxed. The text is a little toned but generally clean. Illustrated.
