Washington: National Democratic Executive Committee, 1860. 16pp, caption title [as issued]. Disbound, title leaf detached but present, lightly toned, a few small spots of foxing. Else, Very Good.

Breckinridge, Buchanan's Vice President, was the 1860 presidential standard-bearer of the anti-Stephen Douglas branch of the Democratic Party, which had split during the 1860 nominating convention. Douglas had defied Buchanan and broken with him over the Kansas issue. This campaign piece defends Breckinridge's devotion to the Union and the Administration's record, argues that slavery is-- like other forms of property-- entitled to exist anywhere in the Territories, demonstrates his support in the North, and attacks Douglas, Popular Sovereignty, and Abraham Lincoln.
