Leaves clean. Edition limited to 150 copies: this copy hand-signed and numbered '67', by Joyce Downing, on the colophon. Art-illustrated (lino print on rice paper, Trish Walsh) dustjacket mildly edgeworn and abraded, clear tape on verso folds. Constructed from 'letters home', with connecting narrative by her younger sister/editor Joyce, this is the story of Doris Downing, a missionary teacher, who gave so much of her life to the people of Papua New Guinea . . . born in Victoria in 1900, she died in 1976. Contents include: Prelims., Intro., Mitchell River, Sunshine-Melbourne, Egualua-Greetings, Clouds of War, Post-War Reconstruction, Papua New Guinea Revisited, Doris's Death, In Loving Memory, Index.
