The British Botanist, or a Familiar Introduction to the Science of Botany, explaining the Physiology of Vegetation, and the Principles both of the Artificial & Natural Systems of Linnaeus, and the Arrangement of Jussieu; intended chiefly for the use of young persons

by Stephen Clarke

Condition: Poor/N

London : F. C. & J Rivington, 1820 An interesting and rare work describing the study of botany in a series of letters for young people. Illustrated with fine hand coloured engravings. The book is disbound - lacking both boards and with the remains of the leather spine from which the red title label is retrievable but that is all. The stitching is sound apart from the first few leaves - including the frontispiece - which are loose. The page edges at the beginning and end of the book are slightly curled out lacking the protection of boards. The contents are very nice and generally clean apart from some light foxing and the odd mark. There are 16 plates - 2 of which form Plate 10 which is double size. They are brightly coloured and generally unmarked. This book is well worth rescuing and repairing.
