Vienna: K. K. Hof- und Staatsdruckerei, 1878 4to (28 cm), XII, 272 pp, numerous illustrations of alphabets. Printed in two colors. Publisher's blind-stamped leather, all edges red, spine gilt (rebacked using original spine, armorial bookplate, paper lightly browned). First edition of Karl Faulmann' book of alphabets. Bigmore & Wyman I, 213. "It contains a much larger number of alphabets each alphabet that the similar volume issued by M. Auer under the title "Alphabete des gesammten Erdkreises. Each alphabet is preceded by an historical notice and philogical notes." The book owes it's publication to the director of Imperial Printinghouse in Vienna and may be viewed as a kind of specimen.
