But for bump to top right corner, all corners pointed. Binding tight and square. Without tears, creases or chips. Not marked and very clean and bright. Dust jacket with wear and chipping to spine ends and top of back flap. Green sticker covering price on inner flap. All books carefully wrapped and sent boxed.

Illustrated throughout with black & white photographs on glossy paper. Bibliography. Index. Endpaper maps. Bound in black cloth with red and silver lettering printed on spine. Clean and tight. In the color illustrated dust jacket, price-clipped and with light edge-wear. Colors remain vibrant. At the time of publication the railroad had the third largest revenue of US railroads, and was the sixth largest US industrial corporation. The Sacramento shopkeepers who built the railroad were, of course, the Big Four: Charles Crocker, Mark Hopkins, Collis P. Huntington and Leland Stanford. Dust jacket is now protected in a clear, removable archival sleeve.
