About This Item

1871 1ed Burnham New Poultry Book Chicken Breeding Turkey Illustrated Farming

In the second half of the 19th-century, there was an increased interest in domesticating poultry in America. A number of works were published on the matter; however, none more important than those written by George P Burnham. His most important book concerning poultry was his 'Poultry Book' – a treatise covering breeding chickens, turkeys, and other domestic fowl; observations on eggs and egg hatching, as well as how to domesticate wild birds.

This incredibly rare first edition is illustrated with impressive full-page engravings of hens, chickens, roosters, and turkeys.
