New York: McGraw Hill Book Company, Inc., 1939. Book. Good. Hardcover. Reprint. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. xvi, 448, x, 449-1095 pages. Index. Graphs. Issued without dust jackets. VIII upon copyright page presumably indicates this set to be from the eighth printing. Former library copy with most associated markings removed. Bindings intact. A sound vintage copy of this classic work in which Schumpeter "recommends no policy, limiting his study to scientific analysis of the economic process. Schumpeter's theory of business cycles is consistent with his theory of economic development and presents some alternatives to Mitchell's approach, which was different in many ways." - Hutchinson 734. Pressman p.162, Swedberg p.240, Aldcroft & Rodger p.8..

Description:
New York: McGraw-Hill Book Company, Inc., 1939. Schumpeter’s theory of business cycles puts its emphasis on industrial innovations rather than banking. Schumpeter starts his account of business cycles at the top rather than the bottom of the cycle. "The reader needs only to make the experiment. If he comes to survey industrial history from, say, 1760 onwards, he will discover two things; he will find that very many booms are unmistakably characterized by revolutionary changes in some branch of industry which, in consequence, leads the boom, railways, for instance in the forties, or steel in the eighties, or electricity in the nineties.
