Paris.. 1836.. Engraving on laid paper, handcolored, image 7 x 4 1/2 inches (plus text area) on sheet 12 x 9 inches. Pencilled (plate?) number at upper right of sheet outside plate mark, very faint spotting, otherwise clean and bright. An exquisite botanical image by Pancrace Bessa, one of France's foremost botanical artists of the 19th century, engraved by Barrois for "Flore des Jardiniers, Amateurs, et Manufacturiers . . . d'apres les Dessins de Bessa". At lower left in tiny italics are noted the place of origin of the plant (Central America) and date of flowering (June, July). .
