(xi) [4] 58pp. Errata slip laid in at rear. Facsimile of Gibbes Map of the Southern Mines, 1852. Half dark blue morocco & cloth, gilt lettering to spine in printed dustjacket. Introduction by Lyle Wright and SIGNED by him and the artist, John B. Goodman. Fine in near fine dustjacket (slight fading to spine; short, closed tear). "... excellent descriptions of San Francisco, Stockton, mining camps, and life in the diggings around the Mokelumne River area." - Kurutz 379b. Kip also observed that once the gold ran out, California would not offer much for settlers - an inaccurate observation as today's California depicts. First book in the California Centennial Series. (Howes K174; Rocq 10081).
