Unpaginated photobook with selections of text in Italian including introductory text from Caramel, photographs by Mulas, and layout by Munari which resulted from a one-day art event held in Como comprised of a series of events, performances, installations, and interventions scattered throughout the day. 4to. On September 21, 1969, a group of forty artists, musicians, architects, and art critics took over the streets and squares in the center of Como. The event was coordinated by art and architectural historian Luciano Caramel, photographer Ugo Mulas, and experimental graphic designer Bruno Munari. Participants included leading artists of the time such as Enrico Baj, Davide Boriani, Gianni Colombo, Dadamaino, Luciano Fabro, Bruno Munari, Giulio Paolini, Ico Parisi, Grazia Varisco, and others.
Examples of the various events and installations held throughout the day include laundry hung on clotheslines across Piazza del Duomo by Gianni Pettena, which literally put the working class's dirty laundry on display in the historic city center. Ugo La Pietra constructed a wooden tunnel covered in plastic to obstruct a major street. The collectives Gruppo T and Gruppo N worked with local firemen and electricians to simulate a lightning storm. Bruno munari invited the public to drop pieces of folded paper from a medieval tower as an attempt to "visualize the air".
Campo Urbano occurred in the aftermath of the May 1968 events, and not long before the bombing of Milan's Piazza Fontana on December 12, 1969, which helped to usher in the Anni di Piombo. Scarce; as of July 2021, OCLC locates six holdings in United States institutions.
