The Hakluyt Society was established in 1846 for the purpose of printing rare or unpublished voyages, travels and naval expeditions by those who first explored these unknown and distant regions. The majority of these illustrate the history of the great age of discovery which forms the foundation of modern history. Yellow eps. Bound in blue cloth boards of the Hakluyt Society with gilt lettering on spines. Gilt vignette of the sailing ship 'Victoria' on front board. Blindstamp decoration on boards. Boards bright. Spine somewhat darkened. Overall condition VG to VG+.
