Boston: Ticknor and Fields, 1865. First Edition . Hardcover. Very Good Plus Condition.. 12mo. 252 pages with 24 pp ads dated Dec, 1864. First edition which consisted of only 2,040 copies. Original purple P cloth (pebbled) as noted in Borst. Protected in mylar. Binding is much better than average with almost no wear to the tips and with very minor wear to the top and bottom of the spine, no real chips or tears. The purple color on the spine has faded to a light brown, but still providing enough contrast to read the gilt title across the room. BAL binding C, sequence not determined. Interior of the book is clean and tight. No previous owner's names. An above average, attractive copy. BAL 20115.
Synopsis
Thoreau's account of his travels and explorations on Cape Cod is considered his most genial book, and one of his most appealing. Published in 1865 after his death, Thoreau's CAPE COD remains an indispensable guide to the area.
