At the time of his journeys in the White Nile region in 1904, Captain Liddell was the Director of Posts and Telegraphs in the Anglo-Egyptian Sudan. This is a first-hand and succinct account of his travel from Taufikia to Twi district, east of the Bahr-el-Jebel, containing description of his travel route with brief remarks on flooded villages, Jual village inhabited by Dinkas and Nuers, villages of Lual and Jual under a female Sheikh, the sheikh of Khandak who was in the old army at the fall of Khartum, and the Nuers raiding Dinkas.
