Description:
William Heinemann Ltd, 1943. 4th Edition. Hardcover. Poor/No Jacket. 139 pages (complete). A lamentably much ignored novel of World War II that brought Henriques much acclaim at the time. It has been compared with Hemingway and Golding. Fourth reprint of first edition. The book has been much owned and dismissively stored. The covers have wear, scuffing and marks. The book was printed according the wartime economy standards. The pages are benign, expressive, clear, certain and may be read with confidence and engagement. fk.
