First edition (B-B code present), near fine hardcover shows some mild shelf and trace wear, else tight and clean, in very good dust jacket clipped at both top and bottom of front flap (has corner banner indicating first issue) that shows bit of staining along spine that is heavier at tail where it fans out a bit and is more visible at reverse, along with mild toning along spine, bit of rubbing and soil, and edgewear that includes short closed tears and shallow open chips with a thin open chip at spine edge of front panel. 279 pages. Solid copy in jacket of this popular novel first serialized as 'Desert Bound' in McCall's magazine in 1925 and 1926.

This is a complex novel. The ensemble of characters--a mixture of westerners, native Americans, and easterners coming for health reasons--and the principles' stories are laid bare for the reader to either sympathize with, or assuredly hate; there is little or no middle ground. This book deserves to be read and more highly respected.
