About This Item
Goupil, Paris, 1880; Woodburytype photograph by Etienne Carjat of influential French politician and historian Louis Blanc (1813-1882), early architect of French socialism and author of the 12-volume "Histoire de la Revolution Francaise". Photo measures 6 1/4" x 7 3/4", mounted on 11" x 14" card. Accompanied by four 11" x 14" pages of background and analytical text by Odysse Barot, in French. From the eminent French 19th century "Galerie Contemporaine" photographic collection of leading figures from the arts, sciences, and politics, published by Goupil and issued in parts from 1876 to 1884. Photograph and mount Fine, text pages lightly chipped in the blank margin along along the top edge, not affecting text.
