Manchester: Chetham Library, 1937. quarter leather, cloth-covered boards. Radcliffe, John. large 8vo. quarter leather, cloth-covered boards. (vi), 100 pages, with 2 additional leaves of photographic plates. The antiquary and writer on genealogy and heraldry, John Radcliffe (1845-1911) left his collection to his son James Radcliffe (1891-1918), who, before his death in World War One, had stipulated that the collection should go to the Chetham Library. This was a collection of works on genealogy and heraldry, with some old chronicles and numismatic works. Notable items include a 1497 Liber Cronicarum of Schedel and a 1550 English book of genealogy. 1,300+ entries. Photographic plates are portraits or facsimiles. Rubbed along shoulders; pieces missing at head and tail of backing and front shoulder. Otherwise moderately bumped, a few scratches.
