Cantabridgiae [Cambridge, Massachusetts]: Academiae Typographorum, Typis Metcalf et Sociorum, 1857. In Latin. Published 1857. Handsomely bound copy of this record of Harvard students, faculty and alumni, with the alumni listing starting in 1642 and continuing through the publication date. Full crimson morocco leather with gilt spine lettering and decorated compartments, additional decoration in blind, slightly raised spine bands, marbled endpapers, 144 pages plus a 44 page index. Original wraps bound in. Book has the naval-themed personal bookplate of Theodore Winthrop Steadman (born in Shanghai, China; graduated from Harvard in 1933; with residences in Farmington, Connecticut and Fishers Island, New York at the time of his death in 2006) on the front pastedown. Very light rubbing to the covers, red color and gilt bright and unfaded, good hinges, firm text block, pages age-toned but clean, old archival repair to original front cover, coffee-colored stains to the outer margins of the first few pages, pages otherwise clean and unmarked.. Hard Cover. Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
