Appears unread, in publisher's original green cloth boards, blind stamp of American Procession Series on front, titles in gilt on spine, maps on pastedown, endpapers, minor soiling on boards mostly on lower right front board, else near pristine, pages are clean, bright and binding tight. Dust Jacket condition: Very Good+. Not priced clipped, micro-closed tear and slightly trimmed only on inside upper first inside inner flap with the original $6.50 price visible, correct third printing dust jacket with yellow ochre color printed title, illustration of cowboy and cattle on spine instead of the first edition sienna red color printed on spine. Dust jacket only is ex-library, age toning, creases to extremities, a light pencil mark on spine with the typical neat hand written library dewey decimal number and ghost sticker on spine, else no other library marking anywhere, jacket in professional collector mylar protector sleeve, appears mostly uncirculated. Overall a near pristine copy with smart DJ of the uncommon early third printing of the 1958 first edition. Signed, inscribed with scarce hand drawing by author Mari Sandoz. Author of Crazy Horse and Cheyenne Autumn later made into the 1964 western film of the same name, directed by John Ford. Classic western, rare signed collectible. 527 pgs. 8vo.
