Edward Arnold, 1919. 1st edition.. Hardback. Cloth, VG. viii+220pp+16pp publishers adverts, 2 b/w plates, 2 b/w plans, corners bumped, cloth a little rubbed, occasional foxing, but overall a nice copy. Armorial bookplate of Edward Milner of West Retford House to the pastedown. An account of the author's time as a prisoner of war during World War One - Yeats Brown saw action in France and in Mesopotamia, where he flew with the Royal Flying Corps. In 1915, his plane was damaged upon landing during a sabotage mission near Baghdad. He was subsequently captured by the Turkish Army and spent the following two years as a prisoner of war. He would become better know for his account of his time in India between 1905 - 1914 which was published under the title 'The Lives of a Bengal Lancer'. Major Francis Charles Claypon Yeats-Brown, DFC [ 1886 - 1944 ] served in the British Indian Army & RFC. Major Edward Milner [ 1858 - 1937 ] who, during the Great War, served with the 10th Battalion King's Royal Rifles, and in 1915 was appointed Staff Captain.

Book grades are given book then dustjacket (if any) Running from F - Fine, VG - Very Good, G - Good, P - Poor. A fine book will look almost like the day it was bought, a VG one will have some evidence of prior ownership, G means a nice clean copy, obviously secondhand & P implies a COMPLETE copy that has suffered a hard life & will need some TLC. We take into account the books age when grading, so a 250 year old book graded as VG will look more second hand that a 5 year old book graded the same. On the Net since 1998. All prices are in GBP.
