Hugh Rees Ltd. Acceptable. 333pp. A first edition copy. ( 1907) from The Pall Mall Military Series. Illustrated throughout with numerous maps and sketches - many fold out. There is a pocket attached to the rear paste down with several additional well preserved maps within it. Bound in red cloth with gilt embossed lettering to the front board and spine. There is an ex-library white number written to the tail of the spine with ex-library stamps and numbers to the front end paper and paste down and ticket holder to the front paste down. There are a couple of stamps to the title page and head of the preface page and also to a few fold out maps. The stamps reflect the varied places where this book has previously been housed - including the Field Artillery Brigade, Eaton Hall Officer Cadet Lkibrary, Mons O.C.S. School Library and the Officers Mess Library, Newport. There is splitting to the front inner hinge between the title page and preface page and to the rear inner hinge, leaving the boards rather shaken. There is a split to the cloth at the head of the spine with some associated fraying and another split of 2 cm along the rear edge of the spine strip with a little chipping of the cloth. Scattered foxing to the fore edges and slightly to the margins of a few leaves. A few page corners have been lightly turned. Although the boards are a little loose the textblock itself is tight. A fair copy.
