Large Hard Cover. 8.5" x 11" 9081007114 Inscribed & Signed By Author A large hardcover, in red cloth with gilt lettering, approx. 8.5" x 11", unpaginated (200 pages). One of a limited edition of 1000 copies, published by the photographer Hans Bart Van Impe, with 96 full page black and white photo plates. There is also a 4 page introductory section, with 1 page of text in each of 4 languages - English, French and German and Dutch. CENOTAPH 14 - 18 is a testimonial of the War Graves and Burial Monuments on the Western Front, reaching from the Belgian Coast to the Swiss border in 96 black and white 4 x 5 inch photographs. The photographic book visualizes how the Commonwealth, American, German, French and Belgian forces commemorate their human sacrifice. Cenotaph literaly means "Sepulchral monument erected for someone who is buried abroad". Condition note: the back cover has a small black dot/mark to cloth, otherwise a Fine condition volume. The second endpaper (otherwise blank) has a nearly full page pencil inscription by the author/photographer, where he discusses the cameras involved; it is dated 2005 and signed with first name only. Overall, a bright clean and solid volume, in handsome maroon red cloth with gilt lettering. .
