The Centennial Exposition was held in Philadelphia, May to November 1876, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. It was the first official World's Fair held in the United States, showcasing the arts and industries of the U.S. and 37 other countries. Of particular note might be its Women's Pavillion, which was managed, funded, and constructed entirely by women, and designated as a place to showcase womens' achievements in all spheres of life. One can read about these and other exhibits to detail in this large volume, which includes an index and a fold-out map of the fair. Also with b/w engraved illustrations throughout, plus six additional pages of advertisements.
