Sole edition. John Spittlehouse was a Fifth Monarchist and determined controversialist who supported Cromwell until concluding that Cromwell was not, in fact, the new Moses. Here the author uses a great many capital letters and Biblical quotations to argue in favor of the dissolution of Parliament and against maintaining a standing army, since the army had taken to apostasy and hypocrisy. (Spittlehouse also wrote The Army Vindicated, in their Late Dissolution of the Parliament; his postscript here notes that his position on the army had changed since the publication of that pamphlet.)

LONDON: J Wilcox , 1732 First edition of Coker's Survey of Dorsetshire - with the original county map and 6 copper plates of Arms as called for. Stated to have been written originally by Thomas Gerrard in the 1620's and then first published by Coker in 1732. In contemporary full leather binding with newer spine with gilt titles. With title page; dedication 1p; folding map of Dorsetshire; text with decorative head and tailpieces and initial capitals 128pp; Names of Persons/plate listing 4pp; 6 plates of Arms; Index 16pp; blank. The original leather boards have wear to corners and the newer spine (which is of poorer quality leather) has fraying at the top and bottom and some wear along the spine joints - particularly the front joint. The contents are very clean and in good order with just the occasional mark. The map has a crease from poor folding but is complete and clean. The endpapers have some marking and the front endpaper has not been repaired along the joint when the new spine was added.

Muller was deputy head of the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, where he was instrumental to its transformation into a disciplined cadet academy. An attractive first edition example of his first work.
