With illustrated frontispiece. Pages and binding are presentable with no major defects. Minor issues present such as mild cracking, inscriptions, inserts, light foxing, tanning and thumb marking. Overall a good condition item. Boards have mild shelf wear with light rubbing and corner bumping. Some light marking and sunning.

Minor foxing and tanning to pages with heavier foxing and tanning to pastedowns and endpapers. Pen inscriptions to front endpaper and visible tanning to text block edges. Both hinges are cracked with exposed netting and cracks to guttering with exposed netting. Binding is loose. Boards have mild rubbing and visible bumping to corners. Fair crushing to spine ends and moderate sunning to spine.

Quarter green leather, with gilt patterned boards and gilt titles to spine, by Riviere and Son, stamp to front endpaper. Pattern endpapers. Upper block edge gilt. Pages have deckled edges. Portrait frontispiece. First few pages and frontis are water stained and warped. Otherwise, pages have slight foxing, tanning and minor thumbing. Pencil inscriptions to front endpaper. Foxing more noticeable towards the start and end of the book. A few edge tears and creases, as expected. Boards have some moderate edge wear, with slight bumping to corners and minor bumping to spine ends. Slight scratches to leather and minor wear to board edges. Spine is heavily sunned. Gilt is bright.

Slight crinkling to paper at gutter. Clean pages with noticeable tanning and foxing throughout. Tightly bound with faint thumb marking throughout. Heavier tanning to free endpapers. Pen and pencil inscription and markings to front free endpaper. Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Slight crushing and splits to spine ends and corners. Gilt lettering is darkened. Moderate sunning to spine and edges. Visible wear marks to boards. Boards are bowed.
