About This Item

Tucson, AZ: Chax Press, 2000. First printing. (30) pp., 11.25 x 13.5 inches. Poems printed letterpress on handmade mulberry paper, torn and adhered to Tiara paper printed with wood type letters and numbers in dispersed patterns, with additional hand markings on the pages. Handbound in Moriki papers over boards in an adapted oriental binding, in an edition of eighty numbered copies, signed by the poets. A very good copy, fine save for very light wear to the corners of the boards, and a few stray marks to the back cover, at publication price.

Collaborative poems by Hejinian and DiPalma, in an innovative and intriguing realization by poet-printer Charles Alexander.

One of the most handsome and elegant of the letterpress books from the press, Chartings sold out quickly, and turns up quite infrequently now.

About Passages Bookshop

Passages Bookshop stocks fine, rare, and unusual books and graphic art, with a concentration on modern and contemporary literature and art (particularly poetry and the avant-garde), artist's books, fine printing, and the book arts. The successor to New York City's Bridge Bookshop (late 1980s), Passages opened in Albuquerque in 1994 and relocated to Portland, Oregon, in 1997. In November of 2015 we moved to a new retail shop and gallery centrally located in Portland's east side, two blocks north of the convention center, where we are typically open Thursday through Saturday from 12:00 to 6:00 pm, as well as by appointment or chance.
