HATFIELD BOOKS AND MEMORABILIA, a FIVE STAR SELLER, presents THE CHEAT--a RARE FIND, connecting the original novel to the second of three movies. 1915 = first film version, directed by Cecil B Demille; 1923 = second version starring Pola Negri and Jack Holt (from which photogravures were obtained for this book); 1931 = third version, directed by George Abbott, and starring Tallulah Bankhead. 310 pages, 5 x 7 1/2". Red cloth boards with black particulars. 6 page advertisement of Grosset & Dunlap books at back, including novels of Edgar Rice Burroughs and Booth Tarkington! No DJ. FIRST POLA NEGRI EDITION. VERY GOOD MINUS. 1923 inscription to owner on first ffep + former price, pages moderately tanned w/ occasional foxing, 1 3/4" tear on pp. 61/62. Cover well rubbed but clear, tight, square with little fraying.
