Overall jacket condition is Good. Book: Volume 1 only of the two volume set. Black cloth binding, marking and light staining to covers. Page edges untrimmed. Light foxing to endpapers, creasing to lover corner of one of the leading blanks. Clean text throughout. The large fold out map is present and in very good condition. The very scarce first edition. Hurst & Blackett Ltd, 1938. Hardcover. Acceptable. 1938. First Edition. 682 pages. This is an ex-Library book. Quarter bound brown leather with red cloth covered boards. Book has been rebound by library, with expected inserts, stamps and inscriptions. Black and white photographic plates throughout. Binding remains firm. Pages and plates are lightly tanned throughout. Thumb-marking present to some page edges, text remains unaffected. Front free endpaper cut out. Boards have light shelf-wear with corner bumping. Light tanning to spine and edges with crushing to spine ends.
