Sir Clarmont Percival Skrine (1888=1974) was British Consul-General at Kashgar during the early 1920s. With his wife, he made a journey into the largely unknown valleys of the Kungar Alps in Chinese Turkestan, during which he mapped, photographed, and surveyed the country. Color frontispiece, with numerous plates (some folding) and a color folding map. 306 p. Octavo. Original red cloth binding, with gilt titles. Some mild edgewear; else near fine in a near fine dust jacket.
