About This Item

London: Batsford, 1936. First Edition. Hard Cover. Dust Jacket. First UK Edition. A review of its characteristics, decoration, folklore and symbolism. This important volume on Chinese Jade is now much sought-after and increasingly scarce as a First Edition (especially in its D/W). 39 colour plates, 109 black and white photographs and 73 line engravings. A VG copy with some minor spotting to the endpapers, but otherwise clean and bright throughout. The boards are clean and the binding is firm. Minor bumping to spine ends and corners as would be expected. Text pages and plates all very good. Minor discoloration to edges of some plates, but overall a very nice book indeed. The VERY RARE D/W is present but has lost small pieces at top of spine and covers and has some spotting to the verso of the D/W. Otherwise intact and not price clipped. A heavy book so will require extra postage. Scans are available.
