Davies, in the Strand, 1806 ...the title continues:- "..Together with an Investigation of the Elements of Gesture, and A New Method for the Notation Thereof, Illustrated by Many Figures". Hardback, 220mm x 285mm tall (8.75" x 11.25" approx ). Pp xvi, 583 + (xvi) [Index & Errata], + 12 single-sided, multi-image plate leaves, one double-folding, showing over 150 postures and gesures for the body, the feet and the hands. The upper margin of the title-page bears the 1820 signature of Henry Alworth Merewether, whose many annotations grace the margins and text of the volume. Merewether, of Chancery Lane, (Fl. 1780-1864) was an Author, Barrister, Town Clerk of London and Sergeant-at-Law. Sound and tight, in a later binding of dark-brown half-leather with gilt spine title and gilt double-lined raised bands and marbled paper-covered boards.. First Edition.
