This a true story about the proud history of the Choctaw Nation and how a family established its presence during struggles between Washington, D.C., and Indian Territory as Oklahoma became a state. Trimble, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist provides detailed descriptions of the turmoil within the Choctaw tribe after the Civil War and until Oklahoma statehood are told through the development of the family of Victor Locke.
